Alcohol excises in 2010 to go up 30%, tobacco - 44%-RF govt source

MOSCOW. July 30. KAZINFORM Starting from 2010 the excise duties on alcoholic beverages in Russia will be raised by 30 percent to the 2009 level or by 20 percent to the earlier approved duty rate for 2010. The excise duties on beer will grow three times next year or by 190 percent to the 2009 level, Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

A Russian government sources said that these proposals will be considered at a meeting of the RF cabinet on Thursday during the work on the main parameters of the federal budget for 2010-2012.

Starting from 2010 it is also planned to increase specific duties on tobacco by 44 percent against the 2009 level and the ad valorem rate (determined in percentage to the products cost) - to increase from 6.5 to 7 percent, said the source, Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
