Alabama sues BP over gulf oil spill

BEIJING. August 14. KAZINFORM Alabama has become the first American state to sue energy giant BP and Transocean, the owner of the doomed Deepwater Horizon drilling rig--- for damage caused by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
The move comes amid fears that oil spill victims will be inadequately compensated and BP will shirk its financial responsibility.
The suit accuses BP and other defendants of negligence or wanton failure to adhere to recognized industry standards of care. The suit also cites poor cementing work as a cause of the blowout.
