Al-Farabi Kazakh Nat’l University and South Korean Yonsei University clinic signed agr’t on medical-diagnostic center

The center will open its doors in a new academic year. The clinic invests in its construction KZT 750 million (tenge), provides medical equipment and services at international standards of quality. It will be located in the center of students’ services, which is being built within campus territory.

Teachers and students will get medical treatment at the most modern hi-tech equipment. Those, who have been diagnosed at the center, if necessary, would be able to get treatment in South Korea in "Gangnam Severance" clinic. In addition, Yonsei University will take part in the program of training for Al-Farabi Kazakh National University biomedical cluster.

In August 2011 during the official visit of Lee Myung-bak, the President of the Republic of Korea, to Kazakhstan the Ministers of Health of Kazakhstan and Korea put their signatures on the Memo on establishing biomedical cluster in the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The Diagnostic Center opens in the framework of this project. The project will be developed on the basis of Biological and Biotechnological Faculty; the main focus will be made on the progress of biomedicine.

The project involves KZT 22.8 billion of foreign investment. Currently, the project documentation is being worked out. The construction of the center is to be completed within three years.

Seoul National University; Yonsei University "Gangnam Severance" clinic; Korea University; engineering design, construction and financial companies of Kazakhstan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore are taking part in the project implementation.
