Aktau seaport to bring annual turnover up to 22 million tons by 2020

ASTANA. November 15. KAZINFORM - International seaport of Aktau will bring the annual turnover up to 22 million tons by 2020. This has been told reporters by the head of management of passenger transport and highways in Mangystau region Urken Bisakaev.

Aktau seaport is in the network of transport corridor called "Europe -Caucasus -Asia" (TRACECA). At present the port is in trust of " National Company "Kazakhstan Temir Joly" JSC.

According to Bisakaev, the design capacity of the port amounted to 12.5 million tons. Actually there is a process of modernization of existing facilities and process of automation, which provide an opportunity for transshipment of up to 16.5 million tons.

"In addition, these days we have launched the port expansion to the north. We have already built and put into operation facilities on the water - the breakwater and pier, which are worth more than KZT10.8 billion. In addition dredging in this section has commenced. KZT3.6 billion will be spent for that. Prior to 2020, taking into account all the measures taken, capacity of the port will reach 22 million tons", he explained.
