Akim of Karaganda region met Ambassador of Ukraine

KARAGANDA. March 30. KAZINFORM Akim of Karaganda region Abelgazy Kussainov met with Ambassador of Ukraine to Kazakhstan Oleg Demin, the governor's press service reported.

"We attach great importance to strengthening the already well-established economic, trade and cultural relations and further developing bilateral relations with the regions of Ukraine. Currently there are six companies, founded in cooperation with Ukrainian partners, in our region" A. Kussainov said.

He informed the ambassador about foreign trade of the region. "At present, products of regional enterprises, in particular copper, coal and ferrous metals are exported to more than 50 countries around the world. The largest consumers of these products are Ukraine, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Italy, Iran, China," he said.

At the end of the last year foreign trade turnover of the region exceeded USD 10.7 billion. The region has over 400 joint ventures with foreign capital. With regard to relations with Ukraine, since 1996, agreements were signed on trade, economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between the Karaganda region and Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Lugansk, Odessa and Cherkasy regions, as well as between the cities of Dnepropetrovsk and Temirtau.

"I know that there is mutual interest in developing partnerships on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations", said Kussainov, proposing to develop cooperation in various sectors of the economy and humanitarian sphere.
