Airport security officer sentenced to 10 years for drug trafficking - Ust Kamenogorsk

ASTANA. June 22. KAZINFORM - Specialized Inter-district criminal court of the East Kazakhstan region passed the sentence against an employee of the Aviation Safety of Ust-Kamenogorsk Airport Volkov. As the press service of the East Kazakhstan Transport Prosecutor's Office informs, in respect of him a criminal case has been opened under the item "c" of paragraph 3, Article 259 of the Criminal Code (illegal possession of narcotic drugs on a large scale).
It should be recalled that in February Volkov was arrested outside his home while selling dried marijuana weighing more than 110 grams. At personal inspection of a jacket pocket there were discovered 12 000 tenge (KZT), the result of drug sale. During the search of Volkov's apartment there were also found and seized about two pounds of marijuana.
"During the trial the defendant's guilt has been fully unmasked, and he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property and will serve his sentence in a penal colony", concludes the prosecutor's office.
