Air service back to normal across Kazakhstan
Astana Airport resumed its flights to and from the Kazakh capital on the night of December 30 to December 31, Kazinform News Agency cites the Transport Ministry.
The weather in Astana has improved and the airport is fully operational now. The crisis centre consisting of representatives of the Transport Ministry, civil aviation committee, aviation administration of Kazakhstan, airport, and all air carriers operating flights to the Kazakh capital continues its work.
As of December 31, 101 flights are expected to land at the Astana Airport, while 105 will leave the city. 39 flights are being delayed, while 29 are canceled as of now.
The Almaty Airport also functions as normal. It is expected to serve today some 181 flights. 38 flights are delayed, and three more are canceled.
As earlier reported, Astana city braced for high wind gusting 23 m/s, low visibility, ground blizzards, and snowfalls on December 30.
Notably, Air Astana provided its passengers of the delayed and canceled flights with hotel accommodation, hot meals at the airport, and snacks on board.
