Advantages of 'West Europe - West China' transport corridor defined

ASTANA. February 27. KAZINFORM Member of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission for Energy and Infrastructure Daniyal Akhmetov took part in the meeting of Ministers of Transport held within the framework of the 75th anniversary session of the Inland Transport Committee of the Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva, the press service of the ECE reported.

The meeting considered the development of the Euro-Asian transport links and creating a unified railway law.

Akhmetov informed about the development of international transport corridors as one of the areas of coordinated transport policies of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space.

"Trans-Siberian railway, "West Europe- West China" international transport corridor and in the prospect the North Sea Way have substantial growth's potential. The main advantage of these transport directions is a short period of delivery and transport safety ", Akhmetov said.

Following the discussion of the agenda transport ministers adopted a joint declaration.

The same day Akhmetov met with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Sven Alkalaj.

During the meeting they discussed issues of mutual interest in the development of transport and energy. Also specific steps for cooperation in these areas between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Economic Commission for Europe have been identified.
