Adrian Smith+Gordon Gill Architecture wins right to design EXPO-2017 center in Astana

ASTANA. October 22. KAZINFORM American company - Adrian Smith+Gordon Gill Architecture was revealed as the winner for the best sketch idea of the EXPO-2017 exhibition center in the Kazakh capital - Astana on Tuesday.

"105 companies from all over the world participated in the contest for the best design. The panel had picked the top 10 companies and later it was announced that U.S. design firm AS+GG won. The Chicago-based company is internationally renowned for building the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It specializes in the design and development of energy-efficient and sustainable architecture," CEO of the JSC "NC "Astana EXPO-2017" Talgat Yermegiyayev told journalists.

"After the EXPO-2017 event is complete, some pavilions of the EXPO town will be handed to the Nazarbayev University and national research centers. The residential and administrative buildings are believed to be sold. The total cost of the project will be announced in 2014," he added.
