Addicts, alcoholics, people with mental problems given driver's license in Atyrau - Financial Police

ASTANA. July 5. KAZINFORM - In Atyrau driving licenses have been given to addicts, alcoholics and people with mental disabilities. "Financial Police stopped in the Atyrau region the facts of issuing drivers' licenses to people who are registered in the mental and drug abuse clinics. 28 persons with mental disorders have already been identified, who in the period from 2009 to 2012 have obtained driver's licenses.

Also identified are 57 people being registered in drug abuse clinic, who have received a driver's license at the Internal Affairs Department", the press-secretary of the Financial Police of Atyrau region Altynay Mukhtarova says.

Possibility to obtain a driver's license these people had due to medical certificates issued by the mental and drug abuse clinics. Criminal cases have been opened concerning these cases.

"The reports were directed to the Department of Health and the Department of Internal Affairs of Atyrau region on disciplining medical workers of the clinics that issued the certificates for individuals and legal entities as well as the Traffic Police officers, who allowed the issuance of driver's licenses to people with mental and medical problems", informs A . Mukhtarova.
