ADB to provide Kazakhstan $1 billion for public sector development

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - In the framework of the Country Partnership Strategy the Asian Development Bank (ADB) plans to provide Kazakhstan in 2014-2016 USD 1 billion for public sector development, this has been announced at a briefing in Central Communications Service.

"The major part of the investment will go to the transport sector. The investment projects, aimed at strengthening the capacity of transit, as well as integration of Kazakhstan into the global transport flows, include "Western Europe - Western China" highway in Mangystau region, modernization of heating systems and other communication projects", said the chairman of the Board of "Economic Research Institute" JSC under the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan Maksat Muhanov. According to his words, the other important areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the ADB are agriculture and financial sector. It bears to remind that in 20 years of cooperation the ADB has provided USD 3.2 billion to Kazakhstan in the form of sovereign and non-sovereign loans that went for the development of agriculture, education, finance, and transport spheres.
