Above 16,000 Kazakhstanis suffer from Parkinson's disease

ALMATY. KAZINFORM "Above 16,000 people live with Parkinson's disease in Kazakhstan so far and this disease, unfortunately, makes a rapid progress," head of the League of Neurologists public association - the Smagul Kaishibayev Institute of Neurology scientific practical centre Gulnaz Kaishibayeva said at a press conference in Almaty.
Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects your movement. It develops gradually, sometimes starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. But while a tremor may be the most well-known sign of Parkinson's disease, the disorder also commonly causes stiffness or slowing of movement. As stated there, only levodopa and Cyclodol drugs are available to patients in Kazakhstan for free. The League of Neurologists applied to the country's Healthcare and Social Development Ministry with a proposal to include more efficient Parkinson's disease treatment medications to the list of preferential provision of medications.
