About 30 drunk drivers detected by policemen of Astana over the weekend

ASTANA. December 9. KAZINFORM - The weekend is a holiday for almost all working people of Astana. Every resident of the capital looks forward to the end of the work week and long-awaited weekends. However, on these days the number of road traffic accidents increases committed by drunk drivers. So, over the past weekend 26 drivers in a drunken state were detected, astana.gov.kz reports.

Bakhytzhan Malybayev, the head of the Administrative police department of Astana city DIA:
“When we hold mass work-outs, and we carry them out every week by efforts of the traffic police body, as a result we apprehend 25-30 drivers in a drunken state at the weekend from Friday to Sunday”.

After the drivers are apprehended, workers of the metropolitan police bring the potential violators to the narcological dispensary, where these drivers are to pass medical expert evaluation.

Gabit Ispenbetov, worker of the road-patrol police of Astana city DIA:
“According to the administrative legal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, article 467, paragraph 1, a driver apprehended for driving in a drunken condition for the first time is to be deprived of the driving license for 2 years; if it happens for the second time, then according to the article 467, paragraph 2, he is to be apprehended for 10 days”.

More than 1000 cases of the Driving regulations violation were detected by metropolitan police officers in the course of a roadstead in Astana streets last weekend. 26 drivers were apprehended for driving in a drunken state, 48 for overspeeding, 17 for entering the oncoming lane. In addition, for unfastened seat belt 114 drivers were brought to administrative responsibility, and more than 400 pedestrians were punished for violations of the Driving regulations.
