About 200 people to partake in 20 Years of CIS conference

MINSK. September 28. KAINFORM The international conference, 20 Years of the CIS, will bring together about 200 officials from CIS countries, politicians, scientists and businessmen, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev told reporters in Minsk on 27 September, BelTA has learned.

"We have been gearing up for this event for a year," Sergei Lebedev said. The conference will focus on various cooperation avenues in the CIS within 20 years. According to Sergei Lebedev, the conference will include a special section to discuss innovations. "This is a very important topic for all CIS countries. The Council of the Heads of Government will adopt the interstate program of innovative cooperation till 2020 in St. Petersburg on 18 October. The program was approved at the session of the CIS Economic Council in Almaty on 23 September. This program will help promote innovative cooperation. There is no future without innovations," Sergei Lebedev said.

According to BelTA, the conference will open with the speech of Belarus' Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich.

Representatives of CIS countries will discuss the development of humanitarian cooperation, the integration of banking systems, the improvement of the CIS institute of foreign observers, the multilateral military cooperation which is a crucial element of security, stability, social and economic interaction of CIS countries. The forum will also focus on some other issues.

The conference will include four sections dedicated to the economic cooperation, humanitarian interaction, legal framework of cooperation, the collaboration in ensuring security, combating crime and terrorism in the CIS.

The conference will be held as part of the events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the CIS.
