A. Kelchevsky proposes to broaden agenda of forthcoming OSCE summit in Astana
Addressing the participants of the International scientific conference Human dimension of the OSCE: common priorities in 2010 A. Kelchevsky said: "This year we will mark the 35th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act, the 20th anniversary of the Paris Charter for New Europe and the Copenhagen Document on Human Dimension as well as we will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Therefore the OSCE is imposed special responsibility and its presiding country is a successor and a model of embodiment of everything which was gained since the moment of its establishment".
"In 2010 Kazakhstan proposes to give more attention to a number of human dimension issues like tolerance and non-discrimination, ensuring gender equality and fight with human trafficking. Welcoming these initiatives I would like to note that the issue of tolerance includes not only the rights of ethnic and religious minorities but also tolerance towards political opposition and non-discrimination of sexual minorities", Kelchevsky said.
In this view, the Head of the OSCE Center in Astana proposed to include these issues in agenda of the forthcoming OSCE summit. According to him, fight with anti-Semitism and inter-faith dialogue could also be discussed at this top-level conference.
As is known, the conference was attended by deputies of the Parliament, representatives of state bodies, political parties, the OSCE Center, experts of international organizations and diplomatic missions, scientific institutions, NGOs etc.
