89 suicide attempts in children registered in Astana

ASTANA. KAZINFORM "89 suicide attempts in children, including 14 lethal ones were registered in Astana for the past three years," Astana Mayor Imangali Tasmagambetov told the August meeting of teachers held in the capital.
"Internet is largely to blame for as a potent tool of communication that rapidly disseminates information about suicides," he added. "Another cause of suicidal behavior in children is lack of understanding and support from parents and teachers' pressure."
The mayor stressed that children should be taught how to communicate effectively with parents, teachers and agemates, study ways to raise their self-esteem and safe communication through internet.
