85 000 cubic meters of water and 400 000 cubic meters of snow removed from three district of Astana
These days municipal services of the city start struggling with snow and water. Since February 3, they've removed about 400 000 cubic meters of snow and more than 85 000 cubic meters of water. This work is hard. However, there are dozens of calls from metropolitan residents. As of today there are about 3 000 of them, most of them have already been executed. Altyn Nurzhumina, the head of production and technical department, "Astana Tazalyk" LLP:
"Over the whole period of flood control procedures we removed approximately 400 000 cubic meters of snow, and now we're working on dewatering. The works are mostly held in private housing areas. The most flooded areas are Saryarka district, private housing areas and Almaty district".
The flood control procedures involve almost 400 people and approximately the same number of machines. They work 24 hours a day.

"Every day we use approximately 210 equipment units, including pump tractors, steam developers, and other machines; we use all equipment we have in the flood control procedures".
Let us recall that snow removal started in November 2013. Overall more than 3 million cubic meters of snow have been removed, and this is more than it was last year. The works will continue till June 1.
