ASTANA. December 13. KAZINFORM Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan confirms majority of diplomatic notes received from foreign embassies posted in Kazakhstan are in Kazakh.
It was announced by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Sarybai at the Friday presentation of diplomatic dictionaries in the Kazakh capital.
Vice Minister Sarybai noted, back in 2007 the Ministry urged the foreign diplomatic missions to send official correspondence in the state language or provide corresponding translation.
"First and foremost, it is a token of respect to the country they work in. Secondly, it helps the diplomats at the ministry obtain correct interpretation of official appeals from the embassies. It is worth mentioning, 80% of foreign diplomatic notes are in the Kazakh language or contain corresponding translation. I believe this is a recognition of the role of state language in our diplomacy," he added.
