8 saiga poaching cases in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. April 6. KAZINFORM 20 cases of poaching, including 8 cases of illegal hunting of saiga were registered in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, Chairman of the Forestry and Hunting Committee of the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry Yerlan Nyssanbayev told an enlarged meeting in Astana.

At the end of March, members of the anti-organized crime department of Almaty region stopped several cars at "Frontier" border check point, where they discovered more than 4.7 thousand pieces of saiga horns packed in 49 boxes, and more than 10 thousand skins of the muskrat.
A day later, 178 saiga horns were found and seized during the vehicle inspection at the border point "Kurmangazy".

Head of the Committee expressed concern about the frequent ads on buying saiga horns. According Nysanbaev, it can cause an increase in poaching.
