730 fires happened in Astana over a year

ASTANA. January 10. KAZINFORM - There were 730 fires in the year 2013 in the capital, where 124 people were saved and more than 2000 people were evacuated. This has been announced today in the course of the press conference on the results of the year 2013 in the metropolitan Department of emergency situations.

“In 2013 there were 2313 calls, which is 21% less than over the similar period of the preceding year. From this number we went to fight fire 730 times, and it’s 18% lower. The cases of fires beyond the garrison increased by 8% - we went 43 times, and we are responsible for emergency situations not only within the territory of the city, but within the radius of 50 or 70 km outside Astana”, - the head of the metropolitan Department of emergency situations Meiram Iskakov told during his speech.

“Over the year 2013 there were 730 fires in Astana, 22 people died, including 10 children. There were 6 large-scale fired with the burning area of 300 sqm, and one person died there”, - added M. Iskakov.

He also notes that over a year personnel of the fire service saved 124 people from fires, and 2163 were evacuated from emergency places, according to astana.gov.kz.
