5G to be available for over 8mln Kazakhstanis in 2025

More  than 8 million Kazakhstanis will be provided with 5G mobile network in 2025. This is what Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, Kazinform News Agency reports.

In his words, more than 2 million people 20 cities of Kazakhstan use 5G mobile network.

Next year, we plan to cover more than 8 million residents with 5G mobile network. Kazakhstan strives to be a key player of the new Silk Road in the digital world. Together with neighbors, we plan to lay a fiber route along the Caspian Sea bottom and consider the options of access to the Gulf Persian states, said Smailov.

He said that 5G coverage may reach 100% by 2027.

The government is working currently on the provision of rural areas with high-speed internet and plans to provide some 2,000 remote rural schools with access to broadband Internet, he added.

In December 2023, Kazakhstan’s communication providers set up 677 5G base stations.
