45th International Physics Olympiad kicks off in Astana

700 young mathematical talents from 88 countries have come to Astana to partake in the contest. The guests were greeted by Aslan Sarinzhipov, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev pays utmost attention to the development of education in our country and support of talented youngsters," said Minister Sarinzhipov in his opening remarks. He also expressed hope that IPhO participants will like Kazakhstan's capital - Astana. Scheduled on July 14-21, the event will be held at Nazarbayev University.

Amir Bralin, Danat Issa, Nurbek Dinmukhammed, Nurislam Tursynbek and Daulet Kurmantayev are to represent Kazakhstan at the Olympiad. The IPhO-2014 closing ceremony will take place at the Palace of Peace on July 20, 2014.
