4 new pharmaceutical plants to built in Astana

ASTANA. June 24. KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ - Construction of four new pharmaceutical plants has been launched in Astana, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Control Committee of the Health Ministry Syzdyk Baimukanov informed. The Health Ministry in partnership with the SK-Farmatsiya LLP had held a number of meetings with the world leading pharmaceutical producers to negotiate creation of a joint production. As a result of those talks it was agreed to set up four new plants in Astana.

InspireMD company plans to start the construction of a coronary stent production facility. "The amount of the investment will be USD 60 million - USD 100 million. The plant will be issuing up to 200 thousand stents annually. The construction will be started in August/September 2009. As a result this project will create 150 jobs, and 20 specialists will have a traineeship in Germany," - Syzdyk Baimukanov said.

Himpharm JSC will build a modern pharmaceutical facility producing injection and infusion solutions, powder antibiotics and pills as per the GMP international standards. The project will be financed by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and private investments to the amount of USD 90-100 million.

Also the Health Ministry plans the construction of a plasma procession facility. USD 50-60 million will be invested into the plant with capacity up to 200 thousand liters of processes plasma annually. «The money for the project will be provided from the non-budget funds. At present investor solicitation for this project is being negotiated», - he added.
