38th session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers commenced

ASTANA. June 28. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ The 38th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers has begun its work today at the Palace of Independence in Astana.

The participation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev is expected.

Chairman of the 37th (previous) session - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Khamrokhon Zarifi opened the session.

Kazakhstan during its presidency intends to put the emphasis on security, socially economic issues, scientifically technical development, environment and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations, with 57 member states. The organization attempts to be the collective voice of the Muslim world and attempts to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims. The OIC is the second largest international organization after the United Nations.
