311 thou Kazakhstanis visit China in 2023
A meeting took place between Kazakh Tourism and Sport Minister Yermek Marzhikpayev and Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli discussing bilateral tourist cooperation, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh Tourism and Sport Ministry.
Over the past few years, a number of measures aimed at boosting cooperation in tourism as well as increasing the tourist flow have been taken. So, in 2023 the number of tourists visiting Kazakhstan from China reached 367 thousand, whereas 311 thousand Kazakhstanis visited China, two times more than the figure of 2022, said Marzhikpayev.
The minister also stressed that 44 weekly flights are operated en route Kazakhstan-China.
To promote the tourist potential of the country a memorandum of mutual understanding with China Media Group on cooperation in the field of tourism is set to be signed as part of the state visit of the Chinese Chairman to Kazakhstan, said the Kazakh tourism and sport minister.
For his part, the Chinese culture and tourism minister commended the holding of the events within the Year of Tourism of Kazkahstan in China and expressed readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in tourism to further promote economic, trade and humanitarian ties between the countries.
In conclusion, Marzhikpayev recalled the holding of the World Nomad Games schedule for September this year in the Kazakh capital, where China is set to compete.
Also, a closing ceremony of the Year of Tourism of Kazkahstan in China is to take place in Almaty in December 2024.
