26 miners hurt in methane explosion at coal mine in Ukraine’s Lugansk region

KIEV. August 4. KAZINFORM As many as 26 miners have been hurt in a methane explosion at the Krasnokutskaya coalmine in Ukraine's Lugansk region, a spokesman for the Ukrainian emergencies ministry reported on Thursday. Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
According to the spokesman, five miners are in critical condition, the rest were hospitalized with injuries of varying degrees of gravity.
"The accident took place while equipment was being dismantled. Methane exploded at a depth of 155 meters when a hauling winch was switched on. There were 224 miners in the shift, of whom 37 worked in the section where the accident occurred," the spokesman said. Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com
