ASTANA. December 27. KAZINFORM - 25.1 billion tenge will be allocated for geological exploration within the framework of the comprehensive plan for Zhezkazgan socio-economic development, Governor of Karaganda region Baurzhan Abdishev said at the Government session.
"For the first time the comprehensive plan envisages 25.1 billion tenge for geological exploration that will extend the life of mines by 40 years to 2054," he said.
Due to decrease in production at the major enterprise in the region, Kazakhmys Corporation, depletion of copper fields and dependence of the town’s economy on the situation with global demand for non-ferrous metals it was necessary to update the comprehensive plan for Zhezkazgan development, which was adopted in 2011 on the instruction of the Head of State. Kazinform refers to the web-site of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
"I think that the approval of the plan will give a new impetus to the development of our region," Abdishev concluded.
