20 killed in checkpost attack in South Waziristan, Pakistan

ISLAMABAD. June 9. KAZINFORM At least 20 people were killed and a dozen others injured in a checkpost attack Thursday morning in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of South Waziristan, reported local Urdu TV channel Dunya; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
The report quoted government sources as saying an estimated 25 militants, mostly likely from Afghanistan, stormed a checkpost early Thursday morning in the Makeen area of South Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan, killing eight security personnel and injuring 12 others.
In retaliation, the security forces killed 12 militants in the attack, said the report, adding that the fight between the militants and security forces is still going on; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
