Two Kazakhstani tennis players are off to a good start at the Indian Wells Open 2024, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.

Alexander Shevchenko of Kazakhstan, ranked 51st in the world, beat Dominik Koepfer of Germany, world’s 49th tennis player, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3) in the first round of the ATP 1000 Masters event. The Kazakhstani is to take on Francisco Cerúndolo of Argentina in the next round.
Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva, world No.79, defeated German Tamara Korpatsch, ranked 76th, 6-2, 6-3 at the start of the tournament. Putintseva is to face off against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in the second round of the Indian Wells Open 2024.
The Indian Wells Open 2024 is to run through March 17.
