2 Indian Navy officers missing after aircraft crash

NEW DELHI. KAZINFORM - Two Indian Navy officers have gone missing after a surveillance aircraft they were on crashed into the sea off the coast of Karwar in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, navy officials said Wednesday.

The pilot of the ill-fated aircraft was reportedly rescued by local fishermen, and a search is on to find the two missing. Indian Navy spokesman Capt. D.K. Sharma said in New Delhi on Wednesday morning that the aircraft was on a routine training sortie when it suddenly crashed into the sea the previous night. While some debris has been found, the main wreck has yet to be located and is presumed to have sunk to the seabed, The Times of India daily quoted sources as saying. Source: Kyodo
