6,782 Kazakhstanis have signed a consent to posthumous donation of organs in nine months of 2024.

Five people have already become posthumous donors in the following regions: Akmola region - 2 people, Pavlodar region - 1 , Turkistan region - 1 , and Almaty - 1.

The Ministry of Healthcare adds that 4,103 people, of whom 85 are children, are on the national transplant waiting list.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Qazaqstan Halqyna Fund, Bolat Zhamishev, said that posthumous organ donation in Kazakhstan is in a dismal state.

Notably, more than 4,000 Kazakhstanis are waiting for a transplant today. According to statistics, most of them are waiting in vain. About 200 of them will not even live until the end of the year. Transplantation from posthumous donors could save other people's lives, but in Kazakhstan the attitude towards organ transplantation from the deceased people remains ambiguous. Most often, relatives do not give consent to organ transplantation.
