17th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum held in Athens

ASTANA. May 21. KAZINFORM. The 17th Economic and Environmental Forum of the OSCE was held under the chairmanship of Greece in Athens on May 18-20. The Forum gathered politicians, leading experts, representatives of civil society and business community who discussed the issues of migration management and its linkages with economic, social and environmental policies to the benefit of stability and security in the OSCE region; Kazinform refers to the Kazakh MFA?s press service.
The first day of the Forum was devoted to the issues of efficient migration policy, gender aspect in the context of migration management as well as implementation of the OSCE Commitments in the economic and environmental dimension focusing on migration.
The topics of the second day were environmental factors of migration, various approaches and national measures on minimization of affect of the environmental disasters on migrants as well as international cooperation in the field of migration policy.
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut and heads of many international organizations took part in the event.
Executive Secretary of the Kazakh Labor and Social Protection Ministry Tamara Duissenova made a report on Kazakhstan?s measures on regulation of labor migration.
