17 killed in storm in China's Guangdong province

BEIJING. April 19. KAZINFORM /Ruslan Suleimenov/ 19, 700 residents of Guangdong province, southern China, were affected by heavy rains followed by thunderstorm, gale-force wind and hail.
17 people died and 187 were injured as a result of the disaster. The economic damage is estimated at USD 20 mln.
As is known, on April 17 the province of Guangdong was hit by heavy rains, which was followed by thunderstorm, strong wind and hail. In some regions the speed of the wind reached 45m/s. The rescuers evacuated 907 people from the disaster area. 45 houses were destroyed, and the area of agricultural lands damaged by the rain made 1, 680 hectares.
