16 drown in Hindu festival in India

NEW DELHI. September 21. KAZINFORM Sixteen people died by drowning in a Hindu festival celebrating birth anniversary of elephant god Ganesh in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh Monday, reported the Indo-Asian News Service Tuesday; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
One incident took place in Krishna district of the state when six people drowned while immersing an idol of the elephant god in a lake, while 10 others died in similar accidents in other districts of the state.
The festival is celebrated each September across India for luck and prosperity.
