14-year-old jockey dies at horse race

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Criminal case has been opened on over 14-year-old jockey's death at the races in Sandyktau district of Akmola region, according to the press service of Akmola region Internal Affairs Department.
"The criminal case "Improper performance of duties to ensure safety and health of children" was initiated. The investigation is underway", the statement reads. Recall that jockey Dauren Akhmetov, aged 14, has died at the Kazakh national race called tok-baige. His horse tripped and fell on the boy. It all happened in front of spectators. Doctors were unable to save the athlete. Eurasia Fifth Cup was organized by the Republican Federation on national kinds of equestrian sports. The event was timed to celebrate the Day of Sandyktau district. The event was attended by jockeys from all over the country.
