13 children among dead in Qatar mall fire
The fire broke out in the biggest shopping malls of Doha the Villagio Mall. 19 people were killed in fire, 20 were injured. 13 children were among the dead, they were at a child care center at the Villagio. All the victims were foreign citizens, RIA Novosti reports.
New Zealand triplets, Lillie, Jackson and Willsher Weekes who regularly visited a day group of the child care center at the mall, were among the victims.
Children killed in the fire were from Spain, France, South African Republic, Japan and the Philippines.
Four nursery teachers and two fire service staff were among the dead. At least three nursery children were from the Philippines.
The Villagio Mall opened in 2006 and is one of the largest in Qatar's capital Doha. The Villaggio includes a large number of shops and restaurants, an ice skating rink, theme park, movie theater and indoor Venice-style gondola rides.
