11 hospitalized after fire in admin building in central Moscow

MOSCOW. October 14. KAZINFORM As many as 11 persons have been hospitalized after a fire in an administrative building in downtown Moscow, a spokesman for the city emergencies ministry department told Itar-Tass on Thursday; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
According to Yevgeny Bobylev, the 11 victims were employed by a restaurant located in an adjacent building and the fire alarm went off at 06:18 a.m. Moscow time.
The fire broke out in a two-storey outhouse adjoining a nine-storey building located in Moscow's Marksistskaya Street; consumed an area of 500 square meters and was extinguished by 09:00 a.m. Moscow time, the spokesman said.
In 2009, the state fire inspection revealed 13 violations of fire safety rules in the building, its owner was brought to administrative liability, Bobylev noted.
According to preliminary information, the fire was caused by a gas cylinder explosion on the building's basement floor.
