According to the State Statistics Agency, the country has experienced steady population growth in recent years.

In 2020, Uzbekistan’s population was 33.9 million, but in just five years, this number has increased by 3.6 million. Of the total population, 18.9 million (50.4%) are men, 18.6 million (49.6%) are women, 19.1 million (51%) live in urban areas, and 18.4 million (49%) reside in rural areas. In 2024, 926,400 children were born, representing a 3.7% decrease compared to the previous year.

The demographic growth rate remains high in the 21st century. The population reached 28 million in 2010 and 33.9 million in 2020.

This rapid increase presents both opportunities and challenges for the country’s development. Uzbekistan is adapting its economic growth and social infrastructure to align with population growth trends.

Earlier it was reported that the permanent population of Kyrgyzstan in 2024 increased by 119.9 thousand people, or 1.7 percent, and reached 7 million 282 thousand people as of Jan 1, 2025.
