1.1 trillion tenge needed for Energy Efficiency 2020 Program - Kazakh Vice Minister

ASTANA. August 27. KAZINFORM As part of the program "Energy Efficiency 2020" it is planned to implement 78 different activities to the amount of more than 1.1 trillion tenge, Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies Nurlan Sauranbayev announced at a meeting of the Government.

Thus, according to the Vice Minister, 145 million 624 thousand tenge is allocated from the national budget, 9 billion 830 million 936 thousand tenge from the local budget, and 1 trillion 177 billion 153 million 52 thousand tenge of extra-budgetary sources (own investment funds of enterprises).

Today, the Government of Kazakhstan adopted a program "Energy Efficiency 2020", which is aimed at the implementation of the principles of energy efficiency and energy conservation in industry and utilities.

Thus, the program envisages the mandatory increase of energy efficiency of industrial enterprises by 30%, reducing the unit cost of electricity generation by 14%, improving energy efficiency in housing and utilities sector, reducing energy intensity per 1 square meter by 30%, tightening of building regulations and ensuring energy-efficient construction from 2015, renewal of the aircraft fleet and rail fleet, encouraging people to buy fuel-efficient vehicles with 30% lower fuel consumption, increasing energy efficiency of public institutions with a reduction in energy consumption in budget sector to 25% by 2020, transition to LED lighting, modernization of street lighting in cities and towns.

In addition, the program provides for public monitoring of the implementation of energy conservation programs by local executive bodies, promotion of energy saving, training in energy efficiency and the formation of a lean model of energy consumption.
