ASTANA. January 16. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The election results in Zhanaozen showed that the ordinary people and oil workers were not guilty of the December events, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said addressing the forum of Nur Otan Party followers in Astana.
"Yesterday and today observers have noted that the elections were held according to international standards - honestly, openly and transparently. Nothing could shatter our unity. Some people want to make something off the events in Zhanaozen. But Zhanaozen residents gave nearly 70 percent of the votes for "Nur Otan" - that is their answer to all. They showed that the ordinary people and oil workers are not to blame," Nazarbayev emphasized.
