Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region safe for tourism and business - Chinese Ambassador
ASTANA. August 3. KAZINFORM /Kurmat Samarkhan/ Kazakhstan tourists and businessmen can securely leave for the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to our country Chen Gopin has said at a briefing today.
As is known, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region faced large mass riots at the beginning of July following which 197 people died and more than 1600 people got injures. Over 800 people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the riots, a press release of the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan reads.
"I say with full responsibility that the XUAR is safe for tourist and business trips today. Chinese Government is able to preserve its security and stability", the Ambassador said.
"If the incident repeats Chinese authorities will take strict measures", the Diplomat stressed.
