XII Parliament Coop Committee round table takes place in Brussels
ASTANA. November 28. KAZINFORM - Deputies of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan Byrganym Aitimova and Baktybay Chelpek have been involved in the 12th meeting of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Kazakhstan - the European Union held in Bryussel, the press service of the Senate reports.
The participants discussed the bilateral agreement on partnership and cooperation, security in the context of withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan, trade and economic relations, environmental issues, education and sci-tech cooperation.
Ms. Aitimova reported on the progress of education in Kazakhstan, sci-tech and innovation collaboration with the EU. In addition, the Senator spoke at the meeting about the EU Strategy for Central Asia and regional partnership and reported on the prospects of stability and security in the context of NATO troops withdrawal from Afghanistan, combating terrorism, organized crime, drug and human trafficking.
During the event, Senator Chelpekov talked about trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and the EU, social and economic development and transport.
He noted that the European Union is a major trading and investment partner of Kazakhstan ahead of Russia and China. Foreign trade turnover with the EU countries in 2012 amounted to $ 53 billion. The Senator also raised the question on lifting restrictions and curfews for Kazakhstani airlines in the European Union.
