World leaders vow to reach MDGs targets by deadline of 2015
UNITED NATIONS. September 22. KAZINFORM World leaders at the UN high-level meeting on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) on Tuesday voiced their determination to fulfill the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by its deadline of 2015; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
At the high-level meeting, which entered its second day on Tuesday, one speaker after another took the floor to express their varying views on how to eradicate poverty, the lead objective of the eight goals. Some saw progress, some saw regression, some found fault in their own nations approaches and others placed blame on outsiders.
Nearly 140 heads of state and government took part in the international gathering to review the gains and gap in the world efforts to reach the MDGs targets, set out in 2000 and expected to be fulfilled in 2015. Two interactive round-table sessions were held on the sidelines of the Tuesday debate; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
