World Cup in skating starts in Astana
ASTANA. November 27. KAZINFORM - A unique event - the World Cup in ice-skating starts on November 29 in the Ice Palace “Alau”., Kazinform has learnt from astana.kz.
“Two hundred of the strongest sportsmen of the planet from 30 countries: world stars, Olympic prize winners and world champions will come to Astana to compete for Olympic licenses. “Alau” will host the elimination to Sochi-2014 for participation at the distance of 10 000 meters. There will be opposition of Kazakhstan national team and world stars of ice-skating. The elimination to the Olympic Games becomes harder from each time. The rivalry increases. One has to be among the 16 best sportsmen at the World cups to rum the distance of 10 000 meters in Sochi”, - it is reported in the message.
Considering the ice quality in “Alau” and incredibly high pre-Olympic preparation level of sportsmen there is reason to believe that in Astana we can see a historical event - a new world record.
The national team includes the defending world champion Denis Kuzin, repeated champions and record-breakers of the Republic Ekaterina Aydova, Roman Krech, Alexander Zhigin, Fedor Mezentsev, Dmitry Babenko.
The World Cup stage in Astana will be as follows:
November 29. Women: 500 m, 5000 m. Men: 1500 m.
November 30. Women: 500 m, 1500 m. Men: 500 m, 1000 m.
December 1. Women: 1000 m. Men: 500 m, 10 000 m.
