According to BelTA, participants of the session discussed draft plans for working out a strategy and a concept for developing the collective security system and a system for strategic and tactical planning of the CSTO operation. Participants of the consultations worked out proposals to determine strategic priorities of the organization, discussed the geopolitical situation, development trends and the CSTO role in the modern world.

BelTA has been told that the conceptual documents were required for the sake of making the transition to new ways of improving relations in the area of collective security. At the session Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolai Bordiuzha remarked that last year the Collective Security Council made a conclusion that in view of the serious geopolitical changes in the world and the ever mounting challenges and threats to the security of the CSTO member states the fundamental documents of the organization should be revised and updated.

Since its foundation the CSTO has evolved as an organization in charge of ensuring the collective security and the stability of development of the member states. Nikolai Bordiuzha underlined that the heads of state of the CSTO member nations had approved the general strategic direction of cooperation development, namely the evolution of the organization into a multifunctional regional security body able to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the member states, able to become a principal security element in the Eurasian space, and able to take a decent place in the international security system.
