Whooping cough cases in Astana up 81 times
According to the Chief State Sanitary Doctor, Sarkhat Beissenova, an increase in morbidity across seven ICD diseases is observed, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Beissenova stated that the epidemiological situation regarding infectious, parasitic, and especially dangerous infections in the capital has been assessed as stable for six months. There have been no reports of particularly dangerous and quarantine-relevant diseases in Astana through preventive measures.
“A reduction in morbidity has been observed in 11 nosologies, with the greatest decreases observed in corona viral infection (12 times), enterovirus infection (9.3 times), serous meningitis (3 times), acute respiratory viral infection (2 times), acute viral hepatitis B (by 43%), as well as scarlatina, chronic forms of viral hepatitis B and C, salmonellosis, influenza, dysentery, and others,” she said.
Furthermore, the indicators for hepatitis C, opisthorchiasis, purulent meningitis, and meningococcal infection remained at the same level as in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The doctor reported a significant increase in several infectious diseases, including whooping cough (up 81 times), measles (up 12 times), mumps (up 3 times), viral hepatitis A (up 1.5 times), rotavirus infection (up 17%), acute intestinal infection (up 13.9%), and tuberculosis (up 11%).
