We need a new formula of strengthening cooperation with Central Asia, Martha Brill Olcott

ASTANA. June 26. KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ - The international community needs substantial  achievements in Central Asia, Martha Brill Olcott, senior associate with the Russian & Eurasian Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. stated speaking at the 71st seminar of the NATO PA Rose-Roth.

«Regardless of the organization it may be represented by the Euro-Atlantic community has made partial achievements in the solution of the Central-Asian region problems. It is necessary to find a new formula of strengthening cooperation with Central Asia», - she said.

«The international community needs substantial achievements in this region", she added. "Nowadays the problems must be arranged into categories and resolved correspondingly, with the interregional cooperation between Central-Asian countries going first.» - Mrs. Olcott said.  

Touching upon the possible mechanisms of improvement of the interaction between the Euro-Atlantic organization and the countries of the region, she proposed developing short-term and long-term regional projects. «Now we need to determine the short-term issues, including those in the energy sphere and development of information and communication networks », - Martha Brill Olcott said.
