Warning system being modernized in Kazakhstan
ASTANA. July 23. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan is modernizing the system of alerting the public in emergency situations. This has been announced at a briefing of Central Communications Service under the Kazakh President in "Kazmediacenter" by Emergency Minister Vladimir Bozhko.
"Together with the concerned government agencies there has been worked out the project called "Modernization of alerting the public and the government of Kazakhstan". Project realization is intended for the years 2014-2016. During this period there will replacement of all the equipment into a modern one, built on the basis of new technological solutions, and having the opportunity to interface with any system of information visualization, with the possibility of intercepting digital TV and radio broadcasting, and public notification through SMS messages. Under the project there is work carried out to organize production of equipment by domestic factories in Almaty and Petropavlovsk, " said Mr. Bozhko.
The Minister noted that in entire Kazakhstan there has been introduced a single toll-free salvation number "112". A new resistant to overwork the web-site of the Emergency Ministry with necessary information for citizens about the actions in extremal situations. In 2012, the web-site was visited 542,000 times, and more than 2 million pages have been viewed , which raises awareness.
