Vitebsk to host CIS railway development meeting

VITEBSK. KAZINFORM - Over 50 delegates from 13 countries will gather in Vitebsk to discuss issues related to the development of railways, BelTA learnt from the Vitebsk office of the Belarusian Railways.

A network-wide meeting of heads of the CIS railway departments will be held on 9-10 April. Partaking in the event will be delegates from Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Estonia as well as representative of the Railway Transport Council Directorate (CIS and Baltic states, Bulgaria, Georgia, Finland) Piotr Kucherenko. First Deputy Head of the Belarusian Railways Vladimir Mikhailyuk will attend the meeting on Belarus' behalf.

Participants of the meeting will elaborate coordinated actions and positions on various aspects of the railway development. The meeting will also focus on technical and organizational issues such as train schedule, new forms for the organization of the transportation process, plans to increase cargo transit, export and import by rail, BelTA reports.
