Following extensive reconstruction, Dushanbe inaugurated the renovated Victory Park, where flowers were laid at the Eternal Flame.

In his congratulatory address, President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that May 9 is celebrated annually by peace‑loving nations worldwide, honoring the memory of ancestors who defended freedom and secured a brighter future for generations to come.

“Eighty‑one years ago, alongside millions from other states and peoples, thanks to the heroism and selflessness of the sons of Tajikistan, the world was liberated from the plague of fascism. This date is forever commemorated as Victory Day,” Rahmon stated.

The president, government officials, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations laid wreaths at the Eternal Flame Memorial.

Today, there are only eight veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Tajikistan. During the war, 300,000 citizens of the republic were conscripted to the front, with one in three never returning. Another 45,000 workers were sent to industrial enterprises in the rear - a third of the country’s population at the time.

In recognition of their valor, 55,000 Tajik soldiers received combat orders and medals, while 54 were awarded the title of the Soviet Union’s Hero.

29 evacuation hospitals operated in Tajikistan during the war, where doctors helped 50,000 wounded Soviet soldiers. More than 100,000 residents of besieged Leningrad, Moscow, Kyiv, Minsk, and other Soviet cities found shelter on Tajik soil.

Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan is increasingly turning to digital technology to preserve the memory of its wartime generation for future generations.
